Living on a Dream.

Last weekend.
Well, I dare say it feels like a dream.  It was almost so perfect that it felt like a dream. All of it.

It started off with the promise of glorious things to come.  Woke up early on Saturday morning and got ready for the biannual indie markets: Finders Keepers.
So many beautifully, handcrafted delights (although a little pricey), wonderfully creative people and rooms full of inspiration.

This wonderful event is held biannually: Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter at the beautiful Old Museum in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane. Finders Keepers is also held in Melbourne and Sydney (so if you're from those parts and haven't been, make sure you check them out!)

Also during the day, there is plenty of food, drinks and music. Also if you working on the Saturday, don't you worry! Because these markets are held over the Saturday AND Sunday.

After the markets, we dawdled over to Brisbane CBD. (Well, we caught the train there and played a game while one the train: you have to stand up and you're not allowed to hold on to anything or anyone. This was especially fun in our largish group, as we stood huddled together in the doorway of the train.. Oh boy, it was funny!)

We then wondered down to the somewhat unknown cafe, Bean.
This little, hidden cafe was perfect for the Cub Scouts secret show.
We walked down the stairs and crammed into the little venue, to wait in anticipation of the tunes to come.
With low hanging light bulbs and Iced coffee in old beer bottles, this thing was bound to be a hit.

The squishiness was well worth it!

With plenty of head bopping and swaying, the Cub Scouts were a delight to watch and pure sweetness to the ears.
They closed the gig with their song Evie, which coincidentally isn't about a girl, but Tim Nelson's beloved dog. (you can get your very own free download of Evie here

A few of us then went for an adventure out to the sticks of Redland Bay where we had a bon fire at one of my beautiful friend's place. With marshmallows, shooting stars, good company and music, guitar playing and sing-alongs, explorations in the long grass near the lake, countless stories shared, and the best game of sardines I have ever played in my life! It was definitely a night I won't be forgetting any time soon!

So, all in all I had pretty well the most splendid weekend anyone could ask for.

Blessed.

One to Watch.

A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of accompanying two wonderful people to my cousin's school in Toowoomba.

One of them is my beautiful friend Wafia who is super talented! (Please, check her out!)
You can be in awe herehere or here
But this gig was a little different as she brought with her the also very talented Adil

Recently though, Adil recorded a cover of 'I can't make you love me' by Bonnie Raitt.
It is truly beautiful! And dare I say it, better then Bon Iver's cover. (And I LOVE Bon Iver... So yeah)

So please check him out! Support him and keep an eye out for him in the near future!

Photos to Cherish.

A little while back it was one of my friend's birthdays. Her 21'st. She had a party. It was grand.

One of the best parts was that she had a photo booth there! Sooooooo much fun!
I had never been in one before and myself and on of my friends were the first people to arrive (although we feared we would be late... guess not).
Anyways, we got to go in the photo booth first!

It was a wonderful night full of many sour worms, pool, putting holes in wallsss..... not *bites lip*, Mr Polite, a little bit of dancing (not really my thing) and cake! A good party always as cake!
Oh and a lot more photos were taken in the photo booth...

 ^PEESH!

Being bestowed this by someone, from another.

^21 wooo!

Thank you Adelaide! You are wonderful and great and particularly splendid and all things in between!
Your party was wonderful, although Hunter did bring Loraine...

Never to Forget.

Well as you may have heard, One Night Stand got cancelled part way through. But it was still pretty good.  Our group met up at about 9:30am and from there we had to pick up a few more. There we were, the 12 of us, finally on our way to the adventure of a life time. Nothing could stop us in our tracks... Well except for that toilet break.

Yup. We took a few group photos. Look, aren't they beautiful? Look at that blue sky...

Once we had all refreshed, we were off again. Again, nothing could stop us in our tracks.  We drove (at the correct speed limit) to the town of Toowoomba. Here we refreshed again and supped together at the restaurant we people call McDonalds.
Where we saw one of the guitarists from The Medics. (my friend casually struck up a conversation while we were still in the van, trying to find a park. His reaction was the best when she said "Hey! Are you from the Medics!?"  he turned around, and smiled as if he knew her and then his face changed to a look of slight confusion as he realised he didn't actually know her and that she was in a van full of people cracking up laughing from their conversation.
Friend: "Are you going to Dalby?, we are Dalby people going to Dalby...." *says quietly to self* "Ah WHAT!? No we're not... Oh man" hahahahaha  It was one of the funniest things to happen on the trip.

While in Toowoomba, some of the group went on a gum boot hunt, as the forecast was that there was an 83% chance of rain in Dalby. BUT the rest of Brisbane and it's surroundings had beat them to the punch. As there was a particularly small selection of gum boots left to chose from. (Lucky for me, I thought ahead and bought some gum boots prior to the trip!) So some of the girls bought boots, although a few sizes too small... they were purchased just in case.

We all met back at the van and were off on our way again.
THIS TIME, nothing was going to stop us in our tracks.

We listened to Matt Corby and The Temper Trap to get keen (even more keen then what we already were). Then all of the sudden it started to rain...

But nothing could get us down! We were on our way to the night of our lives!
We cheered at every car we past and screamed "YEAH DALBY" every few minutes, until we actually entered the "larger then imagined" town of Dalby! Wooooooooooooooooooooo!

We got there and worked out the plans, just in case we got separated.

With jumpers, scarfs and gum boots on, phones in zip lock bags and ears at the ready, we ventured to find the show grounds. At this point it was raining and rather solidly too. So we made a quick pit stop to look for plastic ponchos but they had all sold out. But that did't stop us. We continued on, getting more excited by the minute.

Finally, the show grounds were in view! Just before we got there, we were informed   that umbrellas weren't allowed.
So now, no ponchos and no umbrellas... "AH WELL" we said to each other and ventured on.

We had finally arrived! Walking through the gates was a great feeling!

The night started off quite well.

The Triple J Unearthed winners performed and after them was the glorious Matt Corby.  Thankfully, for most of it, the rain had stopped.

He was quite splendid! My favourite part was when he started singing Brother and the crowed went wild. The feeling in the air was electric... beyond incredible!
I also loved that the crowed sang along. "OooEeeoo, OooEeeooo, Ooooooo, Ohh, Ohhhh" Such a wonderful moment!

Thankfully the rain held off for a bit.

But it wasn't long before it started to rain again.  This time with a bit more force. It looked set in.

It soon became VERY, VERY, SUPER wet! Which soon made it super cold! Words cannot describe how wet we were!
There was this one part during 360 (some rapper) when we were trying to get food and the rain was SO heavy! And it was freezing! So the group of us getting food (about 5 of us) huddled together under a tarp for warmth. But even in our huddle, we were all shivering. We got some food (which quickly became rather soggy and gross) and went back to the crowd. When we did, we were surprised to find that it was actually really warm! This was because of the body heat from the crowd. And it was so much so, that against the cold, there was steam rising from the crowd!

We stood through the end of 360 and waited for Temper Trap to come on... But unfortunately they had to CANCEL the end of the event, as water was getting amongst the gear and electronics and because of this, it could of been a possible danger.  So, Temper Trap, who I was probably most keen to see was sadly cancelled. Thankfully though, they came out on stage and said a few words of apology. They said how much they were looking forward to playing and how disappointed they were that they couldn't.

With much less people in our group, we made our way back to the van.
When I got there, I had to ring out my scarf and jumpers and pour out the water that had filled my gum boots to the top!

Considering the fact that in the venue, in some parts, the water was half way up my lower leg!

So much mud! (Sorry this photo is blurry. That is because of the zip lock bag, which you can see the edge of in the photo)

So we started for home. Leaving Dalby (even at 9:30pm) was like trying to get to the city in peak hour traffic! It was nuts!
On our way, we made a stop at Gatton McDonalds, to fill our bellies and to clean and warm up a little. While there, we saw one of my beautiful friends and her brother. Unfortunately their car had broken down (convenient spot though... I mean McDonadls, cmon! Best place to break down haha)
So we hung out with them for a bit which was fun.
And then made our way home again.

By the time I got home, it was about 2:30am and I was still wet and quite cold.
We calculated that our group had spent about 17 hours together.
It was without a doubt, a great bonding experience. And a incredible memory!
Although it was all pretty nuts, I had a truly amazing time! I am so, so glad I went!

Even if I have been left with a horrid cold and no voice.

It was so worth it!

Time is a virtue.

Assignments are the worst. I would just like to say, always start your assignments early!

Oh and I am soooo keen for this weekend! Matt Corby is a dream! ♥ Dalby here - I - come!

And just to clarify, One Night Stand is the name of the one day music festival I am going to.

Daylight Delights

Today was rather lovely. I spent the morning at church with the incredibly fun 10-13 year olds (as I am a leader for the kid church) it was a wonderful time! When we finished, I was quite hungry so on my way home I bought some fresh bread (so tasty!). I got home and opened my finger printed mac, looking at blogs I had been told of. Thanks to one of my friends from uni, I am now obsessed with 's blog My New Roots! It is exquisite! The photos are so beautiful and the food looks so fresh and crisp.
It inspired me.
So for lunch we had quinoa with roasted zuchinni, capsicum and sweet potato and fresh tomato and fetta. It was so incredibly tasty!
Myself and my parents sat rugged up, out near the veggie garden.

During lunch, we talked of hanging glass baubles over the garden, planting daisies and making home made cumquat jam (with our very own cumquats) and homemade barbecue sauce (made from our very own tomatoes... yes there are tomato's in barbecue sauce!).

We went inside feeling content.
I went down stairs to work on my assignments and my parents went up stairs. Moments later, I hear ukulele being played. "Wait!" I thought to myself. "This is Beirut!".
My parents had taught themselves to play Postcards From ItalyScenic World and Elephant Gun by Beirut (one of my favourite musical artists). Then they were playing J.S. Bach's 'BourrĂ©e from Suite in e-mino' (here is a version being played with uke and guitar)

I am now back to doing my assignments.
Good luck to all of you who are going through the misery of assignments also.
I'm sure you will do wonderfully.

Until next time my dears.

About Me

Hello, my name is Genevieve and I'm pleased to meet you!

I am a Social Work student and am quite enjoying it. Although, I have to say, my heart really does lie in the creative field. I dream to one day own my own roaming store, to write a lifestyle book and to live in a house full of light, life and joy.

Here is where I will write all about my thoughts and adventures, review a thing or two, recommend some music and show you some DIY projects, recipes and a few other tips and tricks along the way!

With deep thoughts, long days, an overly active brain, a not particularly meticulous writing style and computer always at the ready, you will soon get a glimpse of my thoughts, life and on-goings.

Oh! Also, if you ever have any questions (about anything at all), or would just like to chat, please do email me and say hello! I sure do love meeting new people.

New Beginnings

Hello, my name is Genevieve. Pleased to meet you.
This is the start of something beautiful. Something fresh. Something new.
This blog is most like a documentation of my life.
My going on about on goings.
